I’m going back and forth on if this is totally sacrilegious; wondering if I’ll go to hell just for laughing at it, and on the flip side, being “well, that’s a weird way of summing up what really happened. Who said the Bible was boring…”
I’m not sure. You tell me.
Jason- since you asked, I think this cartoon is terrible. I am especially bothered by the depiction of Jesus and the Father in heaven, with Jesus being all marked up with lash marks and blood. The person who made the cartoon makes a mockery of Jesus, and the Bible for that matter. That’s my 2 cents. I hate the cartoon, but I love you bro.

Well, I definitely agree that this portrayal of Jesus and God in heaven sucks. And I agree that this does mock and belittle my savior. However, something this also does that I really appreciate, is recognize that my story as a Christian is a crazy one. That the bible is filled with insane stories. Too often we read through our verses and never really think about how unbelievable this story is, and even more rarely try and determine what it all means, and what kind of God we believe in who’d do something like this. I for one, am glad that my God is completely unpredictable in the way he does His business, but at the same time, is steadfast in His devotion to us as His people. I’m not sure if other people can understand it without knowing the full story, but this is part of the story that is often left out. Driving down the road I’m constantly seeing people holding signs saying that Jesus saves… but from what? When you step back and get the whole story it begins to make sense what He saves from, otherwise, I can’t say I’d be interested as a non-christian. Mankind is universally cursed and fallen. I don’t think many people really consider that enough.
I don’t know, I’m pretty tired and not sure if this is a very good explanation of why I don’t mind that someone failed to respect God and Jesus in this. I feel like despite their efforts, it is an intriguing way for me to connect with a story that God wants us to remember. And I appreciate the humor in the delivery. I think the animator gets it totally wrong in a few spots, but for me, it still speaks to me. I’m also just very easily entertained.
Hey Jason.
While I wouldn’t write this story…I DO find it amusing. I guess there is a big part of me that enjoys other people’s perceptions of things…even if I don’t agree.
Perhaps if I was more devout in my faith I would be offended at the portrayal of God…but on the other hand I am at times frustrated when people feel like they have to “defend” God…
God will be God no matter what we do and needs no defense…our job is to love Him…have relationship with Him and join in what He is doing…
Love ya bro…it’s been too long…
